Creating the print design for KNIFEMAN the band I play in. Limited edition of 30 Risograph prints available here: http://jameswilsonillustration.bigcartel.com/KNIFEMAN TIME LAPSE
Brand logo for a mate’s Brewery he’s starting up. I had a little sample of the beer a couple of weeks back and it’s goooood! (and pretty strong.) More info soon…
As if it wasn’t good enough that I got a full feature in the last issue, I was asked to do a drawing of Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo for the next issue of Crack Magazine. Came out yesterday!
A couple months back I did a drawing of quirky character DJ Funk for Crack Magazine. They were short of photos and needed something fairly last minute. I was more than happy to help and in return they gave me a massive feature in their last issue! Really happy with how it’s come out and the very kinds words from Geraint Davies who did the interview and to Jake Applebee for sorting it all out. Cheers guys!!! Here’s some photos… The mag is available in Bristol as well as London, Cardiff and a few other places and it’s free!
Here’s a couple designs I did a month back that unfortunately weren’t used. The first is this piece for My Yard‘s latest range, this was great fun to do, Grim Reaper bird, snakes, inverted crosses, all the good stuff…
The next was a design for a competition, which was to create a label for a new premium beer. I had no name to work with, so came up with my own, ‘Salute.’ I used Illustrator a lot for this one and learned a couple of cool new things. A bit more ‘designy’ than my typical stuff. I enjoyed the challenge of working with limited colours too on this one…
I received my copy of this through the post a couple of days ago. All I can say is WOW, it’s a thing of beauty and there’s some awe inspiring work in there. Really pleased with how my pages came out too, cheers again Dave for letting me be involved! You can buy one through the Ammo website here! They’re only 8 squid as well, an absolute steal. Here’s how my pages came out…
I was commissioned a few weeks back to produce an Illustration of a Fox and Beech tree that would sit as part of a logo for the Chiltern Brewery who are based in Buckinghamshire. I was commissioned by a small design agency in Bristol called Dirty Design. They wanted a pen and ink/engraving style, a bit more traditional than my usual stuff. It was good fun to draw even though I had to make lots of revisions to get it perfect. Here’s the initial sketches I produced…
They liked the second version and after some revisions it evolved into this…
Looking back at the first sketches they look so poor by comparison, the many revisions I went through were definitely worth it!
Here’s the Illustration within the logo which was created by Dirty Design. I think the distressed text next to the fox looks really great, cool to see my work as part of a logo as well which is a first! The design is to be used for their signage and is also getting printed on pint glasses, I want one!!
I was asked to get involved with a special edition version of Ammo Magazine the theme was black and white and this was what I came up with.. I’m on a bit of a horror run at the moment and really enjoying it, this piece was great fun to draw and can’t wait to see it in print with everyone else’s work. By the quality of all the pieces I’ve seen so far it will be a thing of beauty!
